A note about wooden beads: I spotted wooden beads at Dollar Tree, but they are usually already painted. You can always repaint them to suit your style. If not, you can find unfinished wood beads at any craft store or online.

TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE PUMPKINS WITH WOODEN BEADS

Follow this short video or read the step by step instructions below.

  1. Cut 3 lengths of 12 inches of floral wire.
  2. Put the 3 cut pieces together and thread them on a wooden bead on all three pieces. This will secure the base of the pumpkin. thread a wooden bead over three pieces of thread
  3. From there, start adding wooden beads to each individual strand.
  4. In my video tutorial, I had six strands of thread and placed 10 beads on each. add wooden beads to each strand of thread
  5. When all the strands are covered with wooden beads, pinch the tops of the wire and push down on the wooden beads.
  6. Then, twist all the tops of the remaining strands to create a “stem”. twist the wire at the top to form a stem
  7. Then, cut the yarn to the length you want your stem to be.
  8. Next, take your greenery and place it on top of the stem.
  9. Finally, wrap the twine around the thread. Close it with a simple knot and that’s it!

** ADVISE: I like to use green that comes off the stem easily and has a hole in the piece of plastic that holds the leaves together. The wire can be easily inserted into that hole for quick assembly.

***NOTE: You will need to thin out your threads and wooden beads to give a pumpkin-style circular look.

OPTIONAL: If you want larger pumpkins, use longer floral wire and more strands. If you want an odd number of threads, you will need to double two pieces of thread. For example: cut 4 pieces of thread. Fold in half. Add wooden beads to 6 of the strands and to a doubled strand. This will give you 7 bead sections in your finished pumpkin.
